The Confession: I Am Jacob (Intro)

I Am Jacob is the first story I ever wrote from a male perspective. This is the story of Jacob; a not so ordinary young man, who is fated to have a tragic life. Jacob lives in a small apartment with his ill mother. He has one best friend named Ivan, who lives in the apartment next door. Jacob's personality is shy and reserved, while Ivan is outgoing and sometimes rowdy. The two have been best friends since childhood, and accompany each other everywhere. Jacob has suffered from emotional, and some mental problems, which Ivan understands. They share everything with each other, except their personal feelings for Relissa. Both Jacob and Ivan have had long standing crushes on Relissa, who is the teenage girl living in the single house down the block. Similar to the relationship between Jacob and Ivan, Relissa has a close friend named Stephanie. One day, Ivan reveals his crush on Relissa to Jacob. Jacob at first is frustrated that his friend loves the same girl he does, but is glad Ivan confessed. Jacob decides to keep his feelings hidden, and encourages Ivan to make a move on Relissa. As time goes on, Ivan fails to make a connection with Relissa, and instead starts to form a strong attachment to Stephanie.

Stephanie and Ivan become extremely close, which becomes evident when Ivan's friendship with Jacob starts to fade. Realizing Ivan is falling in love with Stephanie, Jacob sees this as an opportunity to make a move on Relissa. When he does so, he finds out that Ivan still has feelings for her. Ivan is torn between two loves, the girl he couldn't have and the girl he is with. When asked by Jacob if he is willing to let the idea of Relissa go for the sake of Stephanie, Ivan makes it clear that he won’t give her up. And even clearer that if Jacob tries to pursue Relissa behind his back, he will sever their friendship. Jacob, thinking Ivan to be selfish, decides to pursue Relissa anyway. Relissa is more receptive to Jacob and the two form a secret relationship.

Ivan then reattempts to form a relationship with Relissa, making the mistake of asking Stephanie for her help in the matter. Stephanie feels hurt and slightly used, but decides to help Ivan, because she is in love with him. Stephanie finds out that Relissa has already begun a secret relationship with Jacob. Stephanie gives Jacob a warning that she will do anything and everything in her power to make Ivan happy. She tells Jacob to separate from Relissa or she will reveal his relationship to Ivan. Jacob refuses and instead threatens that doing so will only hurt Ivan. The story begins here in the heart of drama. Jacob must choose between his newfound love, and his longtime friend, as well as deal with the angst of his tragically fated life.
